Secure Web
Access
|
Executive Summary
Secure Web Access enables you to connect
securely to the Web-based administration functions of a
remote target
system. Specifically, you can manage your
mainframe’s HMC (Hardware Maintenance Console)
remotely and securely.
Unlike other products that encrypt the connection to the
target system but don’t provide adequate
authentication, Secure Web Access not only ensures the
security of the data stream but also uses role-based
authentication to give you unparalleled control over who
has access to a target system (or systems) and what
functions they can perform once connected.
We recommend using a central user database to manage
access to ease administration, particularly among
different
locations. A secondary central user database can also be
set up and synchronized with the primary, so that
controlled
access can still occur if the primary becomes
unavailable.
Using the SecureAgent Admin program, which features an
easy-to-use graphical interface, an administrator creates
user groups, grants appropriate access privileges, and
assigns individual users to one or more groups. If used
with our
SuperVision program, you can even restrict a group from
issuing specific commands.
